ABOUT
Meet Kathy — your child's support on this journey.
A therapist, a mom, and a believer in the power of connection. Because when a child feels seen, heard, and safe, healing has already begun.
MY STORY
Why I do this work
My journey began in Colombia, where I earned my degree in Psychology in 2005. For more than 20 years, I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside children, adults, and families as they navigate some of life’s most difficult and meaningful moments.
When I moved to California, I experienced firsthand the uncertainty of starting over—learning a new language, adapting to a new culture, and finding a sense of belonging. That experience shaped the way I see my work today: with empathy for every person’s story, respect for their journey, and hope for what’s possible.
The Bay Area became my home, where I built my own multicultural family and continued serving children and families through mental health services and community programs.
"My greatest hope is to leave my children a kinder world—one where we care deeply for our emotional well-being, lead with compassion, and every child feels safe to be exactly who they are."

That hope became Krescent Center—a place created from the heart, where children and families can connect, grow, and flourish.
MY APPROACH
What your child will actually experience
We work together to navigate challenges, build on strengths, and foster healing, resilience, and meaningful, lasting growth.
1-
Child-Centered
A safe & supportive space where children are empowered to express themselves. Together, we build on their strengths and develop healthy coping skills.
2-
Strengths-Based
We start from what's already strong in your child and build from there toward confidence, resilience, and lasting positive transformation.
3-
Play Therapy & Expressive Arts
We integrate play, art, creativity, storytelling, and movement to help children communicate emotions, process experiences, and build self-awareness.
4-
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
We help children identify and reshape unhelpful thought patterns, develop problem-solving skills, and build effective strategies for managing emotions and behaviors.
5
Culturally Affirming
Treatment is tailored to honor each family's values, strengths, and lived experiences while fostering an inclusive and collaborative therapeutic environment.
